Jamaica Me Crazy - Part 1

Located right in the middle of the caribbean sea, Jamaica is an island that is uniquely different from the other islands of this area. From its hip moving reggae beats, jerk spicing, lush mountains, crystal blue water and how every phrase said by the locals ends with, “Yeah Mon”; Jamaica is a cultural paradise that you must experience.

Where to Stay

The Iberostar Grand Hotel Rose Hall is the way to go when you are visiting the Montego Bay area of Jamaica. This 5 star luxury hotel is all inclusive and every room includes its own personalized butler to fulfill your every wish. The suites are very spacious with top of the line amenities, including a jacuzzi tub, a rainfall shower, his/her sinks, his/her closets, an ipod player, an open stocked mini bar, and a patio; that includes a swing, ceiling fan, and love sofa.

The resort has about 5 restaurants on site which include two buffets (one pool side), Italian cuisine, Japanese cuisine, and a Surf & Turf restaurant. To eat at the specialty restaurants just simply inform your butler to make your reservation. He will kindly say, “No problem mon!”. Keep in mind when traveling to Jamaica during the month of June (even the first week in July) they give the lobsters a break, so instead of lobster they will serve your steak with shrimp as a substitute at the Surf & Turf restaurant. The buffet by the pool is your typical American cuisine such as pizza, chicken, burgers, salad, fruit, and fish. On Saturdays the hotel will host a Jamaican barbecue on the beach. This is your chance to experience real Jamaican cuisine, which includes jerk chicken, jerk sausage and beef patties. Don’t want to go out for breakfast, lunch or dinner??? No problem mon! Just pick up the phone, order room service, and it will be delivered to your room in top quality fashion.

To wash your food down, don’t forget to enjoy the other all inclusive detail......the cocktails. The hotel is stocked with all the top premium liquors and the local Appleton Rum. Popular drinks of choice are Rum Runners, Blue Hawaii (not to be confused with a Blue Hawaiian), and Grey Goose with lemonade. Enjoy these popular cocktails as you relax by the pool or swim up to the in pool bar.

At night enjoy the entertainment located in the hotel’s theatre. Sit back and watch the reggae singers and dancers as they perform to all the reggae hits you may have heard before; either from a commercial or on the radio. You will enjoy listening to all the Bob Marley hits along with a blast from the 90’s era, Shy Guy

by Patra. The dancers are very athletic and perform with enthusiasm. Keep in mind that the show is not on a Las Vegas level, but it is still very entertaining. You will learn what the Jamaican music and dance culture is all about.

The Iberostar Grand Hotel Rose Hall was quite the experience. It is said by the hotel staff that the King and Queen of Spain stay at the Iberostar Grand when they visit Jamaica. If it’s good enough for royalty.....it’s good enough for you.
